Mélanie Demers' work is a pagan celebration in response to the harshness of the world. Inspired by the mournings of our time, it explores incompleteness through discordant fragments carried by a small community. Stacey Désilier, Brianna Lombardo, Chi Long, Léa Noblet Di Ziranaldi, and Frannie Holder, with her gravitational musical force, coexist on stage. They create and destroy without reason or justification, appropriating gestures, words, and music. La Goddam Voie Lactée is a small aesthetic big bang that propels us into the imperfect and infinite universe of which we are heirs. Despite damage, disgust, and despair, we move forward together, tracing our path through snow, mud, and filth. To despair together is already to hope a little.
