Fighting Monkey

Fighting Monkey is a practice that blends dance, acrobatics, and martial arts to develop coordination, mobility, strength, endurance, and physical intelligence.
Alanna Kraaijeveld is a contemporary dance artist who works as a performer, improviser, teacher, experimenter, and creator. Her approach includes context-driven and collaborative practices. She is deeply curious about how the specificity of relationships can inspire intention, movement, and meaning. Grounded in improvisation, her work is driven by its dynamic potential. She creates space for both simplicity and ambiguity in her art.
With over 20 years of experience in the field, Kraaijeveld has toured internationally with the Dave St-Pierre Company and was a dancer with Le Groupe Dance Lab under the artistic direction of Peter Boneham. Le Groupe was an international centre dedicated to the research and development of contemporary dance. Now a widely adopted model in the contemporary arts, the “lab” format was one of the first of its kind, established in 1988.
Since 2015, she has been studying with Linda Kapetanea and Jozef Frucek, the founders of the Fighting Monkey Practice.
Alanna shares her movement knowledge across diverse communities.
